Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Gateshead
Pay rate: £95-£115 Per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a skilled Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive school in Gateshead. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will help promote positive behaviour, build strong relationships, and create a safe and structured environment for learning. The successful candidate will be resilient, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with behavioural needs in lessons and around the school
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning
- Support students’ emotional wellbeing and social development
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement behaviour strategies
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements of Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people in a support role
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive and positive attitude
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
