Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sunderland
Pay rate: £160 - £220 Per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Do you have a passion for supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs and helping them achieve success in education?
GSL Education are seeking a motivated SEMH Teacher to work with schools in Sunderland, delivering engaging and supportive lessons for students who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teacher, you will create a structured and nurturing learning environment that supports students in overcoming barriers to education, developing positive behaviours, and building confidence both academically and personally.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.
- Create a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support students in managing emotions and behaviour effectively.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, support staff, and parents/carers.
Requirements of SEMH Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
