Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary: £108 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long Term, Full-time
Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM
Do you have experience supporting children with complex ASD needs within a primary school setting?
GSL Education are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Newham.
The successful candidate will provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with high and complex ASD needs. This role requires a calm, resilient, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships and support the child both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with high-needs ASD
- Support the child with classroom learning and daily routines
- Encourage communication, engagement, and social interaction
- Implement behaviour and support strategies set by the school and SEN team
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Help create a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour when required
- Support the pupil’s emotional wellbeing and independence
Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting children with complex ASD needs
- Recent primary school-based experience is essential
- Experience supporting SEN pupils on a 1:1 basis
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
