Job Title: Caretaker
Location: Northumberland
Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking reliable and hardworking Caretakers to work in schools across Northumberland.
As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring the school environment is safe, welcoming, and fully operational for students and staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are hands-on, proactive, and committed to supporting the daily operation of school facilities.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of school buildings and grounds
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repair work
- Ensure premises are well-presented and safe for daily use
- Open and close school sites as required
- Monitor heating, lighting, and basic facility systems
- Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school activities and events
- Report any maintenance or health and safety concerns promptly
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the school site
Caretaker Requirements:
- Previous experience in caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities roles is desirable
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A professional and proactive attitude
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
