GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded and inclusive secondary school in Southampton, seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

The successful candidate will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting learners with a range of special educational needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis, within small groups, or through in-class support to help students access the curriculum confidently and successfully.
The school is looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, proactive, and able to build positive relationships with both students and staff. Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable, however the school would also welcome applications from graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, care workers, or individuals looking to transition into education.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN within lessons
- Support students emotionally, socially, and academically
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the SEN department
- Help implement strategies and interventions to support learning
- Encourage student independence, confidence, and engagement
- Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people
- Demonstrate a calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Be passionate about supporting students with additional needs
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
