Teaching Assistant (SEMH & SEN) – Primary Provision
Start Date: September
Contract: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive (based on experience)
Progression: Permanent contract available after successful probation

GSL Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly supportive primary specialist provision in Poole, dedicated to supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs alongside a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant who is looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young learners while developing their own career within a highly supportive and nurturing environment.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils who may present with:

  • Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD and attention difficulties
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Trauma-related behaviours and anxiety

You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within school.

What We’re Looking For:

We are keen to hear from individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children with SEMH and/or SEN needs (school-based experience is highly desirable)
  • Come from transferable backgrounds such as youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or support roles
  • Are calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Are passionate about making a long-term difference in education
