Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking reliable and proactive Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Barnsley.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into classrooms across a variety of subjects, ensuring pupils remain engaged and productive with pre-set work. This is an ideal role for someone looking to build meaningful classroom experience, explore a future in education, or simply make a positive contribution to school life on a flexible basis.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher across a range of subject areas
- Implement pre-prepared lesson materials and keep students focused on assigned tasks
- Create and maintain a calm, orderly, and respectful learning environment
- Manage pupil behaviour in accordance with the school's policies and procedures
- Offer support and guidance to students as they work through set activities
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or issues to the appropriate teaching staff
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom atmosphere
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children or young people is desirable
- The confidence to manage a classroom independently and assertively
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- A practical ability to follow lesson plans and instructions with minimal direction
- A dependable, adaptable, and positive approach to every school day
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people's learning and wellbeing
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application)
