Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are hiring a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Dinnington. The Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them build confidence, regulate emotions, and engage positively with education.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
  • Help students develop emotional regulation and social skills.
  • Assist teachers in delivering structured and engaging learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage trust and engagement.
  • Maintain safeguarding procedures and contribute to a safe environment.

Requirements of SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
