Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Tamworth
Salary: £95 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time
Are you a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting students with additional needs?
GSL Education are seeking committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Tamworth.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for students with additional learning needs, helping them access education and build confidence and independence.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and completing classroom tasks
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted support strategies
- Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons to meet student needs
- Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- A relevant degree such as Psychology or Education is beneficial
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
