Position: Pastoral Leader
Location: Witham
Salary Scale: £92.59 - £160 Per Day
Contract Type: Full Time
GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Pastoral Leader to support students in a secondary school setting. This role involves promoting student wellbeing, positive behaviour, and high levels of attendance, while helping students feel safe, supported, and fully engaged in school life.
You will work alongside senior leaders, teaching staff, and external agencies to provide effective pastoral support and ensure students achieve their full academic and personal potential.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:
- Providing pastoral support for students across the school
- Supporting behaviour management and attendance improvement strategies
- Working closely with students with SEND, SEMH, or safeguarding needs
- Liaising with families, teachers, and external agencies
- Supporting students’ wellbeing, emotional development, and reintegration into school life
As a Pastoral Leader, you will play a key role in supporting students’ personal development, wellbeing, and school engagement. You will work collaboratively with staff and families to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral support and promote student wellbeing
- Support positive behaviour, attendance, and student engagement
- Monitor and support students identified as at risk or requiring additional intervention
- Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to support student outcomes
- Support behaviour interventions and de-escalate challenging situations where required
- Monitor and maintain accurate pastoral and safeguarding records
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and student support plans
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture
Qualifications and Skills:
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively
- A proactive, empathetic, and collaborative approach
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or attendance needs is desirable
