Position: Cover Supervisor – Secondary

Location: Maldon

Salary Scale: £92.59–£120 per day

Contract Type: Flexible / Ongoing Opportunities

GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support students in a secondary school setting. This role involves supervising pre-planned lessons and helping students remain engaged, focused, and motivated in the absence of the class teacher.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, maintain positive behaviour, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

  • Supervising pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining student engagement

  • Gaining valuable classroom experience ahead of teacher training or PGCE routes

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting students’ learning, engagement, and personal development. You will work closely with school staff to deliver a positive and supportive learning environment that enables students to succeed.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure students remain on task
  • Support students across a range of subjects and abilities
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and school leaders
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and professionalism
  • Support the overall wellbeing and progress of students

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related subject (desirable)
  • Strong communication and classroom presence
  • Confidence leading and engaging groups of young people
  • Interest in education, teaching, or youth development
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A proactive, adaptable, and professional approach
  • Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential
