Position: Teacher of English
Location: Thurrock
Salary Scale: £120 - £320 Per Day
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent (Flexible)
GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to support students in a secondary school setting across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role involves delivering high-quality English lessons and helping students develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a passion for language and literature.
You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff in a forward-thinking and high-performing school environment, helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

- Delivering engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of English through creative teaching approaches
- Supporting exam preparation and assessment readiness
- Monitoring and supporting student progress through targeted feedback
- Contributing to enrichment and extracurricular activities
As a Teacher of English, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to a positive and collaborative learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons
- Inspire students through engaging teaching of literature and language
- Prepare students for assessments and examinations
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively within a successful and supportive department
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and a love of learning
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in English or a related subject
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Commitment to raising achievement and supporting all learners
- A proactive and collaborative approach
