Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dudley
Pay rate: £95–£120 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with schools in Dudley, supporting students who require guidance to manage emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning.

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to provide structured support, helping students build resilience, develop positive coping strategies, and succeed in a supportive classroom environment.

Main Duties of SEMH TA:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour appropriately.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining a calm and focused classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
  • Help implement behaviour support strategies and interventions.
  • Monitor progress and report concerns or improvements to relevant staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and supportive approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
