Position: Teacher of English (with Media/Drama opportunities)
Location: Stanway
Salary Scale: £120 - £320 Per Day
Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover – 1 Year)
Start Date: September 2026
GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to support students in a secondary school setting. This role involves teaching students and helping them develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love of language and literature within a supportive and high-achieving environment.
You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.
If you are an experienced teacher, Early Career Teacher (ECT), or a passionate individual with a strong subject knowledge and a desire to inspire young people, we would love to hear from you.
You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:
- Delivering engaging English lessons across a variety of topics
- Supporting exam preparation and coursework development
- Teaching Media and/or Drama where applicable
- Enrichment and extracurricular activities such as clubs, trips, and wider school events
As a Teacher of English, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues and other professionals to deliver engaging lessons and create a positive learning environment that enables all students to succeed.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons
- Design and adapt teaching resources to meet a range of abilities
- Manage the classroom effectively to create a positive learning environment
- Support students’ academic progress and overall wellbeing
- Provide guidance on educational and social development
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental success
- Promote positive behavior, engagement, and high expectations
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Degree in English or a related subject
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education
- Ability to teach Media and/or Drama is desirable but not required
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Commitment to supporting student achievement and wellbeing
- A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach
