SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Poole)
£93 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Term Time Only | Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 3:30pm
GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly supportive and inclusive SEN school in Poole, seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs. The school caters for pupils aged approximately 4–19 years, supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs including Autism (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and communication and sensory needs. Many pupils require a high level of personalised support, including assistance with personal care.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
- Assist with personal care routines where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Support the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help implement EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
- Foster a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment
- Encourage independence, communication and social development
What We’re Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within SEN settings or specialist provisions
- Experience supporting children or adults with personal care needs
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- School-based experience (preferred), though candidates from transferable backgrounds such as care, support work, youth work, or residential settings will also be considered if they demonstrate the right attitude and commitment
