Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Up to £200 per day
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Flexible / Day-to-day / Long-term
Start Date: Immediately

A number of specialist and alternative provisions in Rotherham are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs across Key Stages 3 and 4.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of learners, while also supporting emotional regulation and engagement in education. You will work closely with support staff and pastoral teams to create a safe, calm and purposeful learning environment where pupils can rebuild confidence in education.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Manage classroom behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies

  • Create a safe, structured and trauma-informed learning environment

  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and personal development

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams

  • Track progress and adapt learning approaches where needed

  • Promote positive relationships and student engagement in learning

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (desirable)

  • Experience working with SEMH, SEN or in alternative provision settings

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Patient, resilient and empathetic approach

  • Ability to adapt teaching to individual learning and emotional needs

  • Commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
