Job Title: Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Part-time | Long-term & Day-to-day

GSL Education are seeking dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to work in schools across Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils both emotionally and socially, helping them overcome barriers to learning and succeed in school.
About the Role:
As part of the pastoral team, you will work closely with students who may require additional emotional or behavioural support. You will help create a safe and supportive environment, encouraging positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support to students
- Support pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
- Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing strategies
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and safeguarding teams
- Help improve attendance, engagement, and overall student outcomes
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals (desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, calm, and resilient approach
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
- Flexible and reliable
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
