GSL are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Food Technology to join a dynamic secondary school environment. This role involves teaching students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting them in developing practical skills, creativity, and a strong understanding of food and nutrition within a well-resourced Design Technology department.
You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff in a school that places the journey of the child at the centre of everything it does, helping students to enjoy, enrich, achieve, and aspire throughout their education.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will teach in a range of settings, including:
- Delivering engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Supporting GCSE coursework and exam preparation
- Contributing to wider Design Technology subjects such as Product Design, Textiles, and Construction (where applicable)
- Participating in enrichment opportunities, extracurricular activities, and school events

Position: Teacher of Food Technology
Location: Braintree
Salary Scale: £120 - £300 per day
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4
- Support students in developing practical cooking skills and theoretical knowledge
- Prepare students for GCSE assessments and coursework requirements
- Contribute to the wider Design Technology curriculum where appropriate
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to support achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and wider school
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and a passion for learning
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Ability to teach Food Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Design Technology
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
- Experience in teaching Design Technology subjects is desirable but not essential
