Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are searching for a motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Dinnington. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted support for students with SEMH needs. You will help manage behaviour, build positive relationships, and create a safe and structured environment. The successful candidate will be patient, calm, and confident in handling challenging situations.

Prime Responsibilities:

  • Support students in lessons as a Teaching Assistant
  • Work with students on a one-to-one and small group basis
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Support students’ emotional wellbeing and social development
  • Promote positive behaviour and student engagement
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and preparation
  • Contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements of SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive and positive attitude
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
