Job Title: DT/Art/Food Tech Teacher
Location: Middlesbrough
Pay rate: £200 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Long-Term (with potential temp to perm for the right candidate)

GSL Education are hiring a skilled and versatile DT / Art / Food Technology Teacher to work with schools in Middlesbrough, delivering engaging lessons across creative and practical subjects.

As a DT (Design and Technology) / Art / Food Technology Teacher, you will plan and deliver well-structured lessons that encourage creativity, technical skill development, and safe practical work, including the use of workshop machinery and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons across Design Technology, Art, and/or Food Technology.
  • Teach practical skills including designing, making, cooking, and evaluating work.
  • Safely operate and supervise the use of workshop machinery and specialist equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant workshop/kitchen/classroom environment.
  • Encourage creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum delivery.

Requirements of DT / Art / Food Technology Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching DT, Art, or Food Technology in a school setting.
  • Confidence and proven experience using large machinery (e.g., saws, drills, workshop equipment) safely.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures in practical environments.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
