Speech and Language Teaching Assistant (SLCN)
Location: York
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full Time / Part Time
Start Date: Immediate
GSL Education are seeking a specialist Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SLCN in York.
About the School
This supportive setting works closely with external professionals to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs. The school uses targeted interventions and structured support to help pupils develop communication and interaction skills.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SLCN on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist with speech and language interventions
- Use communication strategies such as visual aids
- Encourage interaction and confidence
- Work alongside teachers and therapists
Requirements
- Experience supporting SLCN / communication needs
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or similar desirable
- Patient and supportive approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
