Position: ASC Teaching Assistant
Location: East London
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £500-600
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and knowledgeable ASC Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition within a specialist or inclusive educational setting in East London. This role is well suited to an individual with a strong understanding of autism and a commitment to supporting pupils in achieving their full potential in a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualised 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition
- Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans tailored to meet pupils’ specific needs
- Support pupils with communication, social interaction and sensory regulation
- Use structured approaches (such as visual supports and routine-based strategies) to enhance learning and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and therapists to deliver consistent support
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in managing transitions and changes in routine
- Foster independence, confidence and social development
- Monitor and record progress, contributing to reviews and support plans
Person Specification
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition is essential or highly desirable
- Understanding of autism-specific strategies and approaches (e.g. visual timetables, structured teaching)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient and consistent approach
- Ability to respond effectively to individual sensory and behavioural needs
- Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding practices
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, psychology or support work are advantageous
