SEN Teacher
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner)
Contract: Full Time, Part Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £32915 – £51048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

This is a well-established specialist provision supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). The school is known for its nurturing approach, small class sizes, and strong focus on individualised learning and holistic development. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured, and engaging environment where every pupil can thrive.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Support students with a range of complex learning and behavioural needs.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to deliver high-quality provision.
- Create a positive, inclusive and structured classroom environment.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress in line with EHCP targets.
- Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
Who We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent; Primary or Secondary trained.
- Experience working with SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision settings (preferred but not essential).
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
