Job Title: Behavioural Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and proactive Behavioural Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Newcastle Upon Tyne.

As a Behavioural Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support students in managing their behaviour, improving engagement, and achieving positive outcomes in their education.

Behavioural Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural needs
  • Support students in managing challenging behaviour using appropriate strategies
  • Assist the teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons
  • Implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage student engagement
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Monitor and record behaviour and progress, reporting to staff
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and structured learning environment

Requirements of a Behavioural Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with challenging behaviour is desirable
  • Background in education, youth work, or care settings is beneficial
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
