Communication Needs Teaching Assistant – SLCN Support
Location: Scarborough
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full Time / Part Time
Start Date: Immediate
GSL Education are recruiting a specialist Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in a Scarborough-based provision.
About the School
This specialist setting supports pupils with significant communication needs, providing a nurturing and structured environment. The school works closely with therapists and support staff to develop pupils’ communication, interaction and understanding through tailored interventions.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SLCN on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Use communication strategies to support learning and engagement
- Assist with speech and language interventions
- Encourage interaction, confidence and independence
- Work alongside teaching staff and external professionals
Requirements
- Experience supporting pupils with SLCN / communication needs
- Knowledge of strategies such as Makaton, PECS or similar desirable
- Patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
