GSL Education are seeking an outstanding and motivated Deputy Head Teacher to join a school in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader or an Assistant Head looking to progress into a Deputy Head position.

As a Deputy Head Teacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher to drive high standards of teaching and learning, promote a positive school culture, and ensure the best outcomes for all students.

Deputy Head Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in the leadership and management of the school
  • Lead on teaching and learning to ensure high-quality education across all key stages
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing support and guidance
  • Contribute to whole-school development planning and improvement strategies
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and student wellbeing
  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure it meets student needs
  • Lead and manage staff, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment
  • Build strong relationships with parents, governors, and external stakeholders

Requirements of a Deputy Head Teacher:

  • Must hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in a leadership role (Assistant Head or similar)
  • Proven experience in managing behaviour and improving student attitudes
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills
  • A clear vision for school improvement and student achievement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
