Job Title: Nurture Teacher
Location: Sunderland
Salary: £150 – £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time (5 days a week)

Are you a compassionate Nurture Teacher dedicated to supporting students’ emotional and social development?

GSL Education are seeking an experienced and nurturing Nurture Teacher to work in schools across Sunderland.

As a Nurture Teacher, you will create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment, helping students build confidence, develop social skills, and re-engage with education. This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting students who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Responsibilities of a Nurture Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons to support students’ individual needs
  • Provide a nurturing and structured environment to support emotional wellbeing
  • Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Implement individual support plans and targeted interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students develop coping strategies
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and external professionals

Nurture Teacher Requirements:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
  • Must be available to work 5 days a week (full-time)
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH or additional needs is desirable
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
