Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with schools in Rotherham, supporting students who require guidance to manage emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning.
As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to provide structured support, helping students build resilience, develop positive coping strategies, and access learning in a safe and supportive environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviour appropriately.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining a calm and focused classroom environment.
- Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
- Help implement behaviour support strategies and interventions.
- Monitor progress and report concerns or improvements to relevant staff.
Requirements of SEMH TA:
- Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, resilient, and supportive approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
