Salary: £40,317 - £62,496 per annum

GSL Education London Branch are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geography Subject Leader to join a thriving coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is a fantastic role for a passionate and ambitious Geography Subject Leader who is ready to inspire students and lead a successful department.

As a Geography Subject Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, driving high standards of teaching and learning, and supporting both students and staff to achieve their full potential. The school has a strong community feel and is committed to academic excellence, making it an ideal environment for a dedicated Geography Subject Leader.

This role is perfect for a motivated Geography Subject Leader who is eager to lead, innovate, and make a real difference in students’ educational journeys. The successful Geography Subject Leader will benefit from excellent leadership support and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department as a Geography Subject Leader
  • Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across KS3–KS5
  • Develop and implement a strong and inclusive Geography curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and raise attainment levels
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers within the department
  • Organise field trips and enrichment activities to enhance learning
  • Ensure high standards of behaviour and classroom management
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement as a Geography Subject Leader

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching Geography at secondary level
  • Previous experience in a leadership role or readiness to step up as a Geography Subject Leader
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Geography
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
