Caretaker – Islington!
We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Caretaker for a Primary School in Islington.
- Position: Caretaker
- Location: Islington
- Hours -7am - 4 pm
- Long-term/Full-time - July 2026 Start date: ASAP
- Daily rate : £15 - £17 per hour
This is a key role in which you’ll help create a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors every day.
What You’ll Be Doing-
Premises & Maintenance
- Carry out general repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks
- Ensure the school site is safe, secure and well-presented
- Support contractors on site and manage deliveries
- Monitor stock (cleaning supplies, bulbs, etc.)
- Act as a trusted key holder (including alarm call-outs)
Grounds & Outdoor Areas
- Keep playgrounds and pathways clean and safe
- Maintain shrubs, weeds and outdoor spaces
- Ensure safe access during bad weather (snow, ice, debris)
Health & Safety
- Carry out risk assessments and maintain records
- Ensure compliance with safety standards
- Promote a safe environment for everyone on site
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in building maintenance or hands-on DIY work
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- A valid DBS registered on the update service.
- 2-3 professional references covering a minimum of 2-3 years of employment history.
- Must be available for an immediate interview and start date.
- Proof of right to work in the UK
- Proof of national insurance
- Proof of address (dated within the last three months)
