Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Whitley Bay
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Part-time | Long-term & Day-to-day

GSL Education are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in primary, secondary, and specialist schools across Whitley Bay. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs and help them thrive in an inclusive learning environment.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and SEMH. You will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to ensure pupils can access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils’ learning, communication, and emotional development
  • Assist with implementing EHCP targets and support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable)
  • Patient, caring, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different learning needs and environments
  • Flexible and reliable
  • No formal teaching qualification required
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
