Pay rate: £95-£120 Per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are hiring a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Birmingham. The Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.

Prime Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Support behaviour management using de-escalation strategies.
  • Help students regulate emotions and develop positive coping skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff.
  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and positive relationships.
  • Maintain safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements of SEMH TA:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
