GSL Education are seeking a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in a supportive school in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to take on more responsibility, support teaching and learning, and make a real difference in the classroom.

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers to support lessons, lead small group sessions, and occasionally cover classes when required. The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and confident in supporting students across a range of abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning across the classroom
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and lead small group activities
  • Provide cover for classes when required
  • Support students on a one-to-one and small group basis
  • Help promote positive behaviour and student engagement
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • Confidence in leading lessons and managing a classroom
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
