GSL Education are seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work in schools across Middlesbrough, delivering targeted support and leading learning activities within the classroom.

As HLTA, you will work closely with teachers to plan, deliver, and assess learning, as well as take responsibility for leading lessons and supporting pupils’ academic and personal development in a structured and inclusive environment.

About the role:

As a Higher Lavel Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, stepping in to deliver lessons when required and ensuring continuity in pupils’ education. You will also provide targeted interventions to support progress across a range of abilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher
  • Support planning and preparation of learning activities
  • Provide targeted intervention for individuals and small groups
  • Assist in monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff

What we are looking for

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working within a school setting
  • Confidence leading a classroom and delivering lessons
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and professional approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
