Learning Mentor (Full-Time, Term-Time Only)

Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join our supportive pastoral team at a thriving secondary school in Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

As a Learning Mentor, you will provide targeted pastoral support and mentoring to pupils, working closely with students, staff, and families to promote engagement, positive behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing across the school community.

You will also support pupils with additional needs, including SEND, and play a key role in delivering tailored interventions designed to improve outcomes both academically and personally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral support and mentoring to pupils across the school
  • Support students with additional needs, including SEND
  • Deliver targeted interventions to improve engagement, behaviour, and attendance
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
  • Monitor, record, and track student progress, contributing to support plans
  • Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and positive behaviour across the school

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting young people to succeed
  • Experienced in working with children or young people (education or youth settings desirable)
  • Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and adults
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, and resilience
  • An effective team player
  • Possesses strong communication and organisational skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Experience supporting pupils with additional needs or delivering mentoring interventions would be highly advantageous.
