Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to work in schools across Sheffield. This vital role plays a key part in promoting positive attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing, helping learners access their education and reach their full potential.
As an Attendance Officer, you will work closely with school staff, students, and families to monitor attendance, address barriers to learning, and implement effective attendance strategies.
Your Responsibilities as an Attendance Officer:
- Monitor and track daily student attendance and punctuality
- Identify patterns of absence and implement effective intervention strategies
- Work closely with school staff, pastoral teams, and safeguarding leads
- Communicate with parents/carers regarding attendance concerns
- Support students facing barriers to regular school attendance
- Maintain accurate attendance records in line with school procedures
- Provide reports and updates to senior leaders as required
To be an Attendance Officer, you should have:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school setting
- Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- A firm, fair, and supportive approach to managing attendance issues
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and attendance procedures
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
