Learning Support Assistant

Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £85–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

A welcoming and supportive school in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This Learning Support Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils in their learning and helping them reach their full potential.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teachers to support pupils across the classroom. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, helping to improve engagement, confidence and progress.

Key Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs where required.
  • Helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Learning Support Assistant Will:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Be patient, adaptable and supportive in approach.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be confident supporting pupils with varying abilities.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
  • Have a fully checkable work history.

This Learning Support Assistant role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
