Part-time Chemistry Teacher

Location: Folkestone and Hythe
Salary: £120 - £250 per day (depending on experience)
Start date: April 2026
Contract: Part-time, Long-term

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Part-time Chemistry Teacher to join a prestigious independent school and sixth form located in Folkestone and Hythe. The selected Part-time Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality chemistry lessons to students across Key Stages 4 and 5, fostering a deep understanding of scientific principles and a passion for laboratory work.

As a Part-time Chemistry Teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous Chemistry lessons to students at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Inspire curiosity and develop students' understanding of theoretical and practical chemistry concepts.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for public examinations, ensuring outstanding outcomes.
  • Conduct and supervise practical laboratory work, maintaining high safety standards.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.

To be considered for this Part-time Chemistry Teacher role, the candidate must:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Chemistry.
  • Have experience teaching Chemistry at secondary school level, including A-Level.
  • Possess strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for the chemical sciences.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment background checks.
  • Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
