Music Teacher

Location: Medway, Kent
Salary: £120 - £250 per day (depending on experience)
Start date: April 2026
Contract: Long-term

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Music Teacher to join a high-achieving and forward-thinking grammar school located in Medway. The selected Music Teacher will be responsible for delivering dynamic music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, inspiring students to develop their musical abilities and appreciation for the arts.

The school is a highly successful selective grammar school for girls with a co-educational sixth form, recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted, which praised the school's "ambitious curriculum" and "strong culture of respect and achievement." The school boasts excellent facilities for the performing arts, including specialist music rooms, practice spaces, and performance areas. The successful Music Teacher will join a supportive and collaborative department dedicated to fostering a love of music in all students.

As a Music Teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Music lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Inspire a love of music and develop students' practical, theoretical, and composition skills.
  • Lead and direct a range of extracurricular musical activities, including choirs, orchestras, or bands.
  • Organise and manage school concerts, performances, and musical events throughout the academic year.
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations.

To be considered for this Music Teacher role, the candidate must:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Music.
  • Have experience teaching Music at secondary school level, including Key Stage 4.
  • Be a skilled instrumentalist and/or vocalist with strong subject knowledge.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment background checks.
  • Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
