1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough (initially) & Holme upon Spalding Moor (YO43)
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Salary: £92 – £115 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated, patient, and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant or Support Worker to work with a young person in Key Stage 4 with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide consistent, personalised support to help a pupil re-engage with education in a more suitable setting.

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a KS4 pupil with additional needs
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship to support engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation
  • Support the transition from a specialist SEN school into an Alternative Provision setting
  • Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and promote positive outcomes
  • Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals to ensure consistent support

Important Information:

  • First 2 weeks: Based at an SEN school in Scarborough for transition support and training
  • Following weeks: Based at an Alternative Provision in Holme upon Spalding Moor (YO43)
  • Full-time role supporting the pupil on a consistent basis

The Ideal Teaching Assistant or Support Worker Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Ability to manage and support behaviour positively
  • Experience in education, care, youth work, or support work (highly desirable)
  • A full driving licence is beneficial due to location
