Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dinnington
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day

A specialist or inclusive secondary setting in Dinnington is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to engage in learning, regulate emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide consistent support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs in lessons and during structured activities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support where required
- Help implement behaviour and support strategies in line with school policy
- Support students in regulating emotions and building positive routines
- Assist teaching staff in maintaining a calm and structured learning environment
- Encourage engagement, confidence and independence in learning
- Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or in similar settings
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Calm, consistent and resilient approach
- Ability to support students with challenging behaviour positively
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
