PRU Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Hartlepool
Location: Hartlepool
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant with PRU experience to work within a supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Hartlepool. This is a fantastic opportunity to positively impact students who require additional behavioural, emotional, and academic support.
What You’ll Be Doing as a PRU Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, and additional learning challenges
- Working one-to-one or in small groups to encourage engagement and progress
- Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
- Providing pastoral support and building trusted relationships with pupils
- Supporting safeguarding, wellbeing, and individual support plans
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working in a PRU or alternative provision — essential
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
