Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £95 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time/ Part-time, Long Term/ Day-to-day
GSL Education are seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in a welcoming school environment in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and providing them with the stability, encouragement, and personalised support they need to thrive.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupils with a variety of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small-group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies.
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
Requirements for Special Educational Needs TA:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school or care settings considered).
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively.
- Willingness to work flexibly across different age groups and needs.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
