Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S2, S3)
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently welcoming applications from dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Sheffield (S2, S3). This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may face challenges in managing their emotions and behaviour.

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will play a key role in helping pupils feel supported, understood, and ready to engage in their learning.

Key Duties of SEMH TA:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive choices.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain consistent and supportive in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
