As a PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require high levels of personalised support. The PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant will support students with learning, communication, mobility, and personal care, helping them access education and develop essential life skills in a structured, nurturing environment.
The successful PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant will provide 1:1 and small group support, assisting with daily routines and working alongside therapists, teachers, and support staff. Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support as a PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant
• Support pupils with personal care, feeding, and mobility
• Assist with communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, sensory approaches)
• Follow individual care plans and behaviour plans
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Requirements
• Experience as a PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting complex SEN needs
• Calm, patient, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Comfortable with personal care responsibilities
