Pay rate: £90-£120 per day (Depending on experience)

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education’s Newcastle Branch is currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Middlesbrough. If you have a passion for supporting students with special educational needs and are comfortable providing personal care, this could be a rewarding opportunity for you.
About the Role:
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to access their learning. This role involves providing both academic assistance and personal care, ensuring students feel safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the school day. You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, independence, and essential life skills within a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities for SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN.
- Assist with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, with dignity and respect.
- Support the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
- Help manage behaviour and encourage positive engagement in lessons.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with staff and follow individual education plans (IEPs).
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
- Comfortable and willing to provide personal care support.
- Patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
