Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S25)
Salary: £110 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a nurturing school setting in the S25 area of Sheffield. Your resilience, emotional intelligence, and support will help pupils overcome barriers, build confidence, and thrive both personally and academically.

Key Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Promote emotional regulation, self-esteem, and positive coping strategies.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and differentiated support.
  • Help manage behaviour using de-escalation and restorative approaches.
  • Build trusting, consistent relationships with pupils who may struggle with engagement.
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and enrichment activities.

Job Requirements for an SEMH TA:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and compassionate under pressure.
  • A passion for helping pupils develop resilience and emotional wellbeing.
  • Creative approaches to engagement and behaviour management.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
