Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S26)
Salary: £110 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in a school setting in Sheffield (S26).

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on students’ lives. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will support pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive coping strategies.

Your Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs
  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist the teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons
  • Implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and personal development
  • Monitor and record behaviour and progress, reporting to staff
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and structured learning environment

Requirements of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
