Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S25)
Salary: £110 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in a school setting in Sheffield (S25).

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students in managing their behaviour, improving engagement, and developing positive coping strategies.

Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one support for students with SEMH needs
  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist the teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and individual plans
  • Build strong, positive relationships to encourage student engagement
  • Support students’ social and emotional development
  • Monitor and record behaviour and progress, reporting to staff
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and structured learning environment

SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
