Autism Support Worker
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £92 – £110 per day
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join a specialist setting in Scarborough. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), supporting them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Autism Support Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils with Autism.
- Support communication using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual schedules, and social stories.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Assist with personal care and daily routines as required.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Encourage independence and social interaction within structured and unstructured activities.
The Ideal Autism Support Worker Will Have:
- Experience supporting children and young people with ASC in educational or care settings.
- Understanding of autism, sensory needs, and associated behaviours.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.
- Experience in implementing PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems (training can be provided).
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
